I just returned from a 3 day trip to see the fall colors along the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. The change of colors started earlier this season and some areas we visited were slightly past peak and other areas hadn't reached peak yet - it was an interesting mix.
One of our first stops was the very popular Oberg Mountain Loop. It is a hike (2.6 miles) near Lutsen with long sweeping views of Lake Superior, rock ledges bisecting hidden lakes, and the North Shore Sawtooth backcountry stretching to the far horizon. We arrived fairly early in the morning and already a few cars were on the parking lot but by the time we returned (around noon) it was full.
We did see a bit of sunshine and blue sky but it was mostly cloudy and very windy.
The views and colors were breathtaking!! Enjoy the virtual tour! And as always, thanks for viewing.
