Late Autumn, October, 2023

The following photos were taken in the last 2 weeks of October, mostly at Audie Lake in the Blue Hills (Rusk County, Wisconsin).
The first morning I got there was windy with beautiful, white puffy clouds. I was delighted to still find so much color - unusual for mid October. Two days later I went again and this time it was very calm and I was able to get some colorful reflection images.
By late October there was still some color mostly from Oak, Tamarack and Popple trees. I found a gorgeous orange Maple tree at the Memorial Park in Ladysmith.
I came across a group of Sandhill Cranes foraging in a corn field.
It was a delight to watch a large group of swans on the Flambeau river. They mostly swam in pairs - these birds mate for life and are so devoted to each other!

Enjoy this colorful selection - soon winter is arriving in the north country.

Fall Color Trip, Cascade River State Park, early October 2023, part 2

Part two of our fall color trip up north along the north shore of Lake Superior.

For part 1 see this post: https://soulcenteredphotography.blogspot.com/2023/10/fall-color-trip-cascade-river-state.html

We were camping at the Cascade River State park near Grand Marais, one of my favorite spots in the area. We were greeted with another gorgeous sunrise at Lake Superior. And I took more photos of the Cedar trees in the morning light.

The rest of the day we went exploring heading north along the Cascade river. Stopping at various places enjoying the solitude and beauty of the river and forest.

We hiked along the river to Hidden Falls - a series of smaller waterfalls and a lesser known area in the State Park.

We found an abundance of mushrooms  -  different varieties I am not familiar with.

On the way home we stopped at Tettegouche State park and Stoney Point. It was a windy day with waves coming ashore - very refreshing. Shanti found a little truck and carried it all over the place. He was so proud of his new toy!!

Enjoy, Susanne
