This is the continuation of our trip to the north shore of Lake Superior, Minnesota .
After we left Hollow Rock and the Susie Islands overlook (see previous blog: https://soulcenteredphotography.blogspot.com/2020/10/at-hollow-rock-tombolo-and-susie.html) we headed north on the Arrowhead Trail and took a turn on Otter Lake Rd. The Aspen trees were glowing yellow-golden mixed in with green Spruce trees. It was like driving through a golden world!
We didn't meet many people which was a nice break from the busy north shore. We drove by a beaver pond with beautiful reflections in it. Our destination was an overlook where helicopters can land (Heliopad). When we pulled up there and got out of the car I was speechless, almost overwhelmed by the extraordinary view and scenery. It had rained and the clouds added a dramatic look to the landscape. A small section of the Pigeon River was visible, which is the border line between the US and Canada. I stood there for a long time before I even started to take photos not knowing how to capture all the beauty that I saw. After a while the sun started to poke through the clouds and patches of blue sky appeared. I am always amazed how quickly the mood of a scene can change simply by a shift in the light.
Enjoy the view!! Susanne
