Hiking in Tettegouche State Park, Minnesota, early Oct. '22

This is part 2 of my fall trip to northern Minnesota. For part 1 see this post: https://soulcenteredphotography.blogspot.com/2022/10/oberg-mountain-and-marshall-mountain.html

I was fortunate to stay at a friend's cabin close to Tettegouche State park. The day started out with soft blues and pinks and a calm lake with beautiful reflections. And it ended with a gorgeous sunset and amazing clouds reflecting in the calm water.

I decided to go for a hike in the lesser known parts of the park. In the 6-7 hours (probably 12-15 miles) I only met 8 people! The day before I was at the popular Oberg Mountain loop near Lutsen and the amount of people there was almost overwhelming.

This turned out to be one of the most enjoyable hikes I have done in a long time (except for getting a blister on my foot)! I stopped at several overlooks with amazing views and just walking on the trails in a golden forest made me feel like being in an enchanted world! And Shanti of course had a great time and would have walked a few more miles! It was enough for me, though!

We came by Tettegouche Lake, had a picnic at Nipisiquit lake and explored the Tettegouche Camp at Mic Mac Lake. The Camp consists of 4 rustic cabins that can be rented but you have to hike in (a 1.7 mile distance) and bring your own food and bedding. It certainly is a very peaceful place to spend a few days.

Fall trip up North with puppy Shanti, part 3

The 3rd and last part of our trip up north.

If you want to read the 1st and 2nd part, you can find it here: https://soulcenteredphotography.blogspot.com/2021/10/fall-trip-up-north-with-puppy-shanti.html

https://soulcenteredphotography.blogspot.com/2021/10/fall-trip-up-north-with-puppy-shanti_15.html

The day started out with another amazing Lake Superior sunrise at the Temperance River campground. It was almost like 2-3 sunrises as the sun would disappear behind clouds and come out again.

I went for a hike along the Temperance River taking photos of the gorge and waterfalls. The water level was low which showed more of the rock formations.

Shanti wasn't much into hiking and Bill stayed behind with him, talking to people on the trail. Then all of a sudden he perked up and got the "Zoomies" - digging in dirt and jumping in the river like a mad man! He seemed very proud of his muddy self! I had to give him a Lake Superior Spa treatment before we packed up and headed home.

We stopped briefly at Palisade Head and enjoyed the spectacular view in the distance and along the shoreline of Lake Superior.

Shanti did so well on this trip so I got him a new (used) teddy bear!

Thanks for viewing. And I hope you are enjoying the photos of our trip.
