I have always been fascinated with water and would spend many hours sitting at a river, observing the flow and listening to the sounds. It seems like a paradox - water is a constant and yet changing all the time. We are living in extraordinary times that require strength, resilience and courage and at the same time softness, compassion and a loving heart.
A quote from the Tao Te Ching (Lao Tsu) came to my mind that I want to share here:
The softest thing in the Universe
overcomes the hardest thing in the Universe.
That without substance can enter where there is no room.
Hence I know the value of non-action.
Teaching without words and working without doing
are understood by very few.
Now about the photos:
We are having an unusually warm December in northern Wisconsin. Somehow the months got mixed up as it was very cold earlier in October.
Nevertheless ice has been forming in creeks, rivers and lakes. I was able to visit Morgan Falls recently. It snowed the night before which covered the rocks just with a little dusting of snow that looked like someone sprinkled powdered sugar.
There was quite a bit of ice already but still open water to enjoy and listen to.
Morgan Falls is a favorite waterfall of mine and is located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, near Mellen, WI. It is the state's second highest falls (70 ft) and tumbles down a rock face in steps.
The last 6 photos were taken at Little Falls, Flambeau River (north of Hawkins, Wisconsin) - another favorite place that I visit often.
