Late Autumn, October, 2023

The following photos were taken in the last 2 weeks of October, mostly at Audie Lake in the Blue Hills (Rusk County, Wisconsin).
The first morning I got there was windy with beautiful, white puffy clouds. I was delighted to still find so much color - unusual for mid October. Two days later I went again and this time it was very calm and I was able to get some colorful reflection images.
By late October there was still some color mostly from Oak, Tamarack and Popple trees. I found a gorgeous orange Maple tree at the Memorial Park in Ladysmith.
I came across a group of Sandhill Cranes foraging in a corn field.
It was a delight to watch a large group of swans on the Flambeau river. They mostly swam in pairs - these birds mate for life and are so devoted to each other!

Enjoy this colorful selection - soon winter is arriving in the north country.

The golden/brown hues of October, 2022

I always appreciate and enjoy the golden/brown fall colors at the end of October, knowing that November is just around the corner with its gloomy and dreary days. I made an effort to get out as much as possible to capture these golden moments.

The yellow/orange Tamaracks light up the landscape like candles especially when lit up by sunlight. The following photos were taken between October 23. and 30. at various locations. I was hoping for a calm lake in the evening to get images with the magical golden light and perfect reflections. I made several attempts but it never worked out as I had envisioned. Yet I am happy with the process of trying and the results I did get.

Enjoy the golden and warm scenery before the long winter arrives here in northern Wisconsin.
